I have had a broad career, including art, healthcare and finance and as a coach in conversational skills. Since 2016 I have been teaching English at several secondary schools in the Netherlands. In my classes, I fully adhere to the CEFR. In short, this means that communication is key. Of course we have to practice supporting skills, such as grammar and vocabulary. The most important thing though is to use the target language in an adequate and relevant way. I fully support the learning of foreign languages and cultures During my years as a school teacher I have done several projects in which young learners in various countries and cultures were introduced to and shared experiences with eachother.

Offline teaching experience: 4

Online teaching experience: 2

For four years I have been teaching English at Dutch secondary schools, in grades 1, 2 and 3. Since 2021 I mostly teach online, English and Dutch. In summer I do provide individual lessons partly offline, in winters solely online as I tend to be in southern Europe, preferably Italy. Before teaching I have been coaching professionals in communicative skills. My favourite learning model is CLIL: Content and Linguistic integrated learning. Important in this is that the language lessons are not just to practice form aspects but really teach to use the language in a manner, relevant to the students. Because of my miscellaneous background and a vivid curiosity I find it easy to connect to all kinds of students of all nationalities. I hope to advocate my native language Dutch or use English as a manner to connect to half of the world.
